About the Author

Jane B.  Ford, M.Ed. has worked with hundreds of nonprofits in the past three decades helping them raise millions of dollars to support their missions.  She began working in the nonprofit field in 1978 as the director of a neighborhood center and then became the executive director of a housing nonprofit.  In both these positions, she wrote grant proposals and secured public and private grants for these organizations.

In 1985, Jane joined the staff of a national housing organizationHere she coached executive directors, trained board members and taught resource development and grant seeking to staff. In addition, Jane was a sought-after trainer at regional and national institutes.  This position also gave her the opportunity to serve on proposal review teams and participate in decisions resulting in millions of dollars of grant funds being awarded to local nonprofits.

Since 2000, Jane has worked as a consultant to help nonprofits raise money.  In addition to researching and writing grant proposals for them (which resulted in grants ranging from$1,000 to $450,000), Jane has worked for private foundations helping them to educate grant seekers and involve volunteers in the grant seeking process. She also teaches workshops in the art of seeking grants for board members, staff and volunteers of community-based and faith-based nonprofits.
